Cheap hotels near Wall Street in New York, United States
Home to the New York Stock Exchange and a host of other major financial institutions, Wall Street is a strip that runs eight blocks from Broadway to South Street in Lower Manhattan’s Financial District.
The street’s name refers to a protective wall that was built during Dutch times to protect the colony of New Amsterdam from would-be attackers. Today, the term “Wall Street” has become synonymous with all things financial.
Lately, the “Occupy Wall Street” movement has brought the area into focus reminding many of Gordon Gekko’s famous line in the 1987 movie, “Wall Street,” “The richest one percent of this country owns half our country's wealth.”
The area bustles during the day and isn’t known for its nightlife.
Hotels near Wall Street: Most of the hotels we list in this area are located in the Financial District, giving tourists close proximity to other major sights like Ground Zero, Battery Park and the South Street Seaport.
