Niki

About this airline

About

NIKI was established in November 2003 and its cooperation with Air Berlin in 2004 marked the first European low-cost airliner alliance. Austrian low-cost carrier Niki operates in part as a charter airline for the Neckermann holiday package giant. From airports throughout Austria Niki flies to that standard battery of sunny destinations.

Niki coordinates flights with Air Berlin, though it maintains its own planes, and a good thing, too, as they're infused with a degree of personality devoid in Air Berlin aircrafts.

Gourmet meal service is available, if you book it at least 48 hours in advance.  A standard snack is included in the fare and the additional menu is about €7-10.

Upside

Codeshares with giant Air Berlin. Very friendly staff and cabin crew. Exceptional meal service.

Downside

Beyond Vienna and Salzburg, other Austrian airports are not well served.

Baggage

* Carry-on: One piece of hand luggage, up to 6 kg (8 kg with laptop).
* Checked: One bag, up to 20 kg. If over this limit, it's €5 per kilogram unless otherwise specified. Longer flights will charge €10 per kg.

* Please visit Niki’s website for more information on its baggage policy.

Seating

You may reserve seats in advance for a fee of €10 per flight. Long-haul flights are subject to a €15 fee per flight. If you require additional legroom (we're talkin' to you Jolly Green Giant!), you can book a spacious seat for €20.
