Dana and Vladimir Tesar consider the Pension Holiday Home their "work in progress." While offering simple, clean rooms at rock-bottom prices, they are also adding new features with each passing season. For those who don't require a three-minute walk to the Charles Bridge, this place offers a quiet night's stay in Vinohrady, one minute from Namesti Miru and one Metro stop from the Wenceslas Square/Muzeum stops.
Each of the Holiday Home's 14 rooms comes equipped with a toilet and shower. When we last visited, bathrooms tiles had recently been replaced. Rooms, though nothing fancy, are continually being restored and remodeled.
The buffet breakfast is served in the lovely eating area downstairs. And, although the Holiday Home's reception in only open from 7 a.m. until 7 p.m., all guests get their own set of keys for after-hours access.
It's not for the wild ones, but the Holiday Home does offer clean and straightforward accommodation in a lovely residential neighborhood outside the tourist-packed streets of central Prague. Note: rates go up a few crowns for those that want to smoke in their rooms—we're not kidding!
