Here at EuroCheapo, we like to play fast and loose with the term "bare bones." But in this case, folks, we really mean it. The Centrum 2's scene, or lack of scene we should say, might be a little too stark for most. Located in Nové Mesto, it is an ideal place for budget-minded tourists traveling in a group.
What used to be an office building is now host to a groups of rooms arranged around a central kitchen area. Rooms are large, ceilings are high, and floor space is plentiful. Though keep in mind: the place feels barren. (We suggested taping up some strategically placed Mucha postcards, but we'll see if they take our advice.)
One room has a kitchen, a living room, and sleeping quarters with 10 beds. There's more of the same on the Centrum's other floors: large rooms, itching for any kind of décor, with several bedrooms attached to private living rooms. Each room cluster has a couple of showers and toilets. Kitchen areas are furnished with dining room tables and large sinks. Living room areas have couches and end tables. Guests can purchase soft drinks and snacks at the front desk.
The Centrum 2 would be ideal for group travelers wannting to stay in a faux apartment space, as a large group could rent out an entire cluster. It's also convenient for anyone with a car: the Centrum has free on-site parking, rare for a hotel in downtown Prague.
