OK, not everyone is into modern baroque decor, but we're sure most Cheapos will be fans of the extravagant amenities at the Hotel Dante Alighieri. Plus, the staff is enthusiastic, and the prices are right.
Last time we checked out the hotel, which is just east of Karlovo Namesti on Salmovská, Jan at the front desk was busy checking in customers—handing out maps, carrying luggage, explaining the breakfast routine. This bustling mood was continued in the lobby's decor, which featured a plethora of framed photos, chandeliers, couches, and tables piled high with brochures and newspapers.
The Dante's 17 rooms kept up with the grand theme. Tall windows were trimmed with grandiose red velvet curtains. Walls were decorated with prints from master painters, and the headboards were made of mirrors. Each room had a little taste of Italy, or perhaps we should say a big taste!
Along with telephones and television, all rooms have refrigerators and safes. Bathrooms come with both bathtubs and shower stalls, and bedroom windows are made of double-paned glass. The Dante is loacted less than a 10-minute walk from Wenceslas Square.
