The tiny Avalon House is a super simple, terra-cotta colored pension on a quiet cobblestone street above Prague Castle. Tucked away behind The Loreto, a fantastical baroque church lined with chubby cherubs, and the Strahov Monastery, the Avalon's surrounds are like a trip back in time.
This converted house has six basic rooms. The two spacious suites, which sleep four to six, have their own kitchens—including stove, oven, fridge, and sink—and small dining area with plenty of windows to let in the afternoon light. There are also two en suite rooms that sleep two to three people. For the slightly more economically minded, the Avalon has an additional two rooms that share a toilet and breakfast nook in the hall. However, these are darker and smaller than the en suite alternatives.
All rooms have mismatched basic furniture alongside the occasional antique. No fancy pictures, phones, or even televisions are to be found at the Avalon. But rooms are pleasant and a good choice for those staying longer in Prague. The biggest draw is the neighborhood: a sleepy picture-perfect reminder of Prague's past.
