The hotel

The spacious guest rooms at the Residence Select have either bright red carpeting or attractive wooden floors. Furnishings are of the basic, wooden variety, and storage space (both closets and cabinets) is plentiful. Larger rooms offer couches, which sport dated floral covers.

Nearly half of the rooms have air conditioning, a useful feature in the warmer months (ask ahead). All rooms come with a kitchenette,satellite TV and safe. Rooms facing the bustling street can get some noise, especially in the summer.

The private bathrooms offer showers, hair dryers and little else.

Wi-Fi is free throughout and breakfast (included in the room rate) is served downstairs in a sunny breakfast room.

The clientele at the Residence Select skews slightly older than at other places we reviewed. For convenient access to Wenceslas Square and practical extra amenities, this hotel gets a thumbs-up in our book.
