Walking just a little bit south of the action can get tourists so much more for the money, and the Residence Select is a great example of this. Located in a non-touristy part of town, the Residence offers tons of amenities for bargain prices. Sure, it's a business hotel, but we had to make it one of our Cheapo picks.
The Residence's lobby and bar are more upscale than room rates would lead one to believe. Inviting couches and polished oak touches go well with the wrought-iron railing on the staircase leading to the 25 rooms above.
Rooms have dark, polished wood floors, high ceilings, and thick curtains on the windows. Furniture is tasteful, unlike some of the gaudy goodies we spotted at other places (not naming any names). Overall, rooms resemble gorgeous executive offices that just happen to come with a bed and kitchenette, including a microwave and refrigerator. That's right, get ready for some slicing and dicing.
Some rooms even had a little dining area complete with table and dining room chairs.
With all this comfort, it might be tempting to stay in and forget about the rest of the city. But should you wish to explore the rest of Praha, the Residence Select is about a five-minute walk north from the National Museum and a 15-minute walk to Old Town Square in Staré Mesto.
