Not only is The Golden Sickle's location phenomenal—it's situated a few steps away from Wenceslas Square—but the prices are also fantastic. This is the hostel for anyone interested in staying right in the center of the action and not afraid to share facilities with several newfound friends.
Small and intimate as hostels go, the Golden Sickle is run by the same group as the super-central Aparthouse 20, which is around the corner on the square. The Golden Sickle provides dormitory rooms with choice of shared or private bathrooms and apartments, which can sleep up to five people. Ikea-style dorm beds are wood and floors are parquet. Tall windows offer picturesque views of Prague's distinctive cupolas. Linens are included in the price.
Having opened its doors on August 2002, the Golden Sickle is still rather closer to new on the new-old scale. And the apartments—decked out with a kitchen, cable television, and en suite bathrooms—are even newer than the rest of the hostel. The staff is constantly renovating and refurbishing. New apartments were being added during out last visit.
From the Sickle, it's about a 15-minute walk to Old Town Square.
