Vintage Design Hotel Sax

The hotel

The Sax's furnishings and artwork are based on pieces from the ‘50s, ‘60s and ‘70s. Downstairs, a collection of funky lamps hangs above the lounge area. In the rooms, every item is carefully chosen: Even the alarm clock with flip numbers is a replica of a '70s model. The furniture throughout is based on designs from such artists as Charles Eames and Luigi Colani— it's all very mod.

Don't let the old-fashioned décor fool you: The Sax is firmly in the 21st Century. The air conditioned guest rooms are kitted out with a plethora of remote controls in addition to a laptop, satellite TV and DVD player. (The hotel has a huge DVD library to borrow from.) Rooms also come with a safe, minibar and phone.

Bathrooms are spacious and shiny, and almost all have bathtubs. Egg-shaped toilets and mosaic tiles keep the retro theme going, while bathrobes, slippers and free toiletries will have you feeling fresh and pampered.

The hotel is decked out with amenities and extras, including a sauna and a fitness room. The ground floor boasts a free, self-service coffee and tea station, as well as a breakfast room. The buffet breakfast, included in the room rate, receives rave reviews from satisfied guests. Wi-Fi is available throughout, free of charge.
