Housed in a cozy townhouse on a stately street near the Vondelpark, the two-star Hotel Sipermann offers 17 quiet, clean and super-cheapo rooms.
Décor in each of the Hotel Sipermann’s guest rooms tends toward kitsch (in one room, we saw an embroidered rendition of Rembrandt's "Night Watch" hanging on the wall), but the price is right, and the comfy rooms are outfitted with a fan and cable TV.
All rooms have private bathrooms, which are smallish but clean, functional and equipped with toiletries.
Don't miss the bar on the Hotel Sipermann’s first floor, where you can drink up before heading out to see the actual "Night Watch," which has its own viewing room in the Rijksmuseum, right around the corner.
Wi-Fi is free throughout. Note that the Hotel Sipermann has steep stairs. The hotel may tack on additional charges, like a room key deposit or a surcharge if you pay with a credit card or arrive after 10 p.m.

About the Sipermann neighborhood
The most popular neighborhood outside the city center, the Museumplein is a residential area crowded with museums, parks and 19th-century buildings. Museums here include the Rijksmuseum, the Van Gogh Museum and the Stedelijk Museum. The Vondelpark area, a 1970s playground of sex, drugs and rock'n'roll, is now an upscale commercial full of pricey boutiques and shops.
