Zandbergen

The red carpet that greets you on the stairs of the Hotel Zandbergen sums up the three-star property’s mission: service. As Henk, the friendly manager, puts it, "The floors aren't marble, and the sinks aren't gold, but the guests stay happy."

The 18 rooms at the Hotel Zandbergen are standard and comfortable. All rooms are outfitted with a television, phone and fan. All but the single rooms also have a minibar. The Zandbergen also rents out a pair of apartments and a penthouse. The apartments come with private access to a cobbled garden area drenched in ivy.

The bathrooms, all private, are standard and equipped with a hair dryer. Bathtubs are available (ask ahead).

Located near the lovely Vondelpark, the Hotel Zandbergen is an especially good choice for families or couples who want more than a place to crash. The property is quiet, especially from rear-facing spaces which don't get the noise from the passing trams. The lobby and lounge areas are uninspiring but efficient.

Breakfast is included in the room rate and Wi-Fi is free throughout. Note that the hotel has steep stairs and no elevator.
