Upon entering the lobby of the 100-room, three-star Hotel Astrid Centre, you might think you've stepped into a business convention instead of a cheap sleep located steps from Ste. Catherine's Cathedral.
After you get past the stodgy leather sofas downstairs, surprisingly, the Astrid Centre's rooms sport playfully colorful interiors (zigzag carpet anyone?). They've got all the amenities you'd come to expect from a large corporate hotel (cable TV, private bathrooms, and ample space) along with many of the surcharges. You'll pay if you want to use Wi-Fi or eat breakfast, but the location offers tons of internet cafés and Wi-Fi hot spots, and plenty of places to grab a morning bite.
The Hotel Astrid Centre is best for travelers more interested in location than mom-and-pop charm. As with other hotels in Brussels, rates tend to be cheaper on weekends when the business crowds dwindle.
