If the Hotel Mozart's name speaks for itself, its décor, service, and location will sing to you! Mozart is housed in a landmark 18th Century building, two blocks from the Grand Place, between two classic cafés. The owner, Benjamin, has tried to keep prices down over the years in spite of continuous upgrades. (Case in point: While we were touring, a painter was finishing a mural in an upstairs hallway.)
Enter the formidable lobby, where Mozart's music wafts from speakers, and admire the gold-embossed wall paper, a framed oil portrait of Mozart (wearing a fancy red jacket) and antique furnishings. Then, travel to your room by elevator or up the plush staircase—and be sure to look out for all the art along the way. No two rooms are alike.
Rooms come with flat screen televisions and many have elegant writing desks and chairs. Walls are a mix of sponge paint and tile mosaics and are accented with paintings framed in gold. Bedspreads are luxuriously thick and come in appealing hues like royal blue, purple and gold. Bathrooms are more basic. If your room's in the rear of the hotel, you walk through a lovely courtyard, where a pretty fountain holds reign amid potted plants on top of an attractive, tiled patio.
Light sleepers should take note: Exterior rooms face the street where there's a lively nightclub open at all hours.
