COUNTRY PHONE CODES
Calling Amsterdam: The country code for the Netherlands is 31. The city code for Amsterdam is 20. Dialing from the US, you'd dial (011) 31 20 and then the number listed on EuroCheapo. If you're inside the Netherlands, but outside Amsterdam, dial (020) and then the number. If you're inside Amsterdam, dial the number directly.
Calling Barcelona and Madrid: Spain's country code is (34), Barcelona's city code is 93, and Madrid's city code is 91. The city code has become a fixed part of the number--dial the 93 or 91 from abroad, inside Spain, and even within the city. Thus, to dial Barcelona from the US, dial (011) 34 93 plus the number.
Calling Florence, Rome and Venice: Italy is 39. From the US, dial (011) 39 then the phone number.
Calling Lisbon: Portugal's country code is (351). From the US, dial (011) 351 then the number.
Calling London: Dialing the UK: (44) then the number.
Calling Paris and Nice: France is 33. From the US, dial (011) 33 then the phone number. Paris' city code is (01). If dialing Paris, drop the first 0. Thus, if the phone number is 01 43 26 87 13, you'd dial (011) 33 1 43 26 87 13. When dialing the number from inside Paris or France, use the entire number. Similarly, Nice's city code is (04).
Calling Prague: The Czech Republic country code is (420). Dialing from outside the country, you'll dial (420) then the number listed. For example, United States residents will dial (011) 420 plus the number. Dialing in Prague, simply leave off the code and dial the number.
HOW DO I MAKE THE PHONE CALL?
Don't be nervous about calling the hotel to book a room. Most hotels listed on our site will have someone on hand who can speak English. (Note: This is not always the case in Spain.) They may not be able to make small talk, but you will be able to communicate about room availability and prices.
WHICH HOTELS ARE LISTED?
EuroCheapo is a completely independent guide. Our "investigators" visit hotels and choose the best accommodations based on value, cleanliness, and a certain "fun" factor. Hotels do not pay to be listed, nor do they pay us a commission if you reserve a room.
HOW DO I RESERVE A ROOM?
EuroCheapo provides readers with full contact information for the hotels, including phone and fax numbers, and email and website addresses when available.
To reserve a room, call the hotel directly, fax a request (including date of arrival and departure and room type desired), send an email (including date of arrival and departure and room type desired), or visit the hotel's Website for further information.
DOES EuroCheapo BOOK ROOMS?
No. EuroCheapo is a completely independent guide. We are not a travel agency and do not reserve rooms.
