The Hemp Hotel stands out in a city known for thinking differently. If there's hemp in the product, you'll find it at this one-star hotel: from linens and mattresses in the five unique rooms, to the beer served in the cool, dark lobby downstairs.

The rooms have been renovated, each themed around a country with hemp heritage. The walls sport sweeping murals painted in-house: so, for instance, in the Tibetan room, you can reflect on a scene from the Himalayas while you enjoy the free internet. The other rooms feature Caribbean, Moroccan, Indian and Aghani themes. Rooms in the front have views of the Fredericksplein as well (although to be honest, this isn't Amsterdam's loveliest square).

A couple of the rooms have simple, private shower cubicles. Shared facilities are spartan, with toilets stored in a closet-like space off the common hallways.

The world-renowned bar downstairs still has the same great vibe, but in addition to the lava lamps, backlit bar and all-around fun atmosphere, the space now boasts wireless internet connection. So, you can hang out in the same hotel lobby Willie Nelson and Woody Harrelson have properly enjoyed, and, er, get some work done.
