You could rent a room at the Hotel Acacia, Amsterdam's version of New York City's Flatiron Building (use your imagination)—they're perfectly nice, well equipped, spacious and clean. But we think you should listen to the advice of Yvonne, one of the Acacia's gracious receptionists, and book a night in an ultra-cool houseboat moored along the Lijnbaansgracht.
Situated on the canal, the Acacia's houseboats have everything a landlubber could want—private facilities, refrigerators, coffee machines—and they're only slightly more expensive than their terrestrial cousins. EuroCheapo's main photo shows our favorite room in a lovely, renovated houseboat. We were sold.
The Acacia is located in the Jordaan, within easy walking distance of Grachtengordal West and the Old Center.
