Hotel Astoria, a 33-room hotel in the heart of Krakow's Kazimierz 'hood, is a fairly unremarkable midrange hotel.
Rooms are better than adequate. If anything, they forsake style for standard. Expect scads of brochures, upholstered desk chairs, wall-to-wall carpets, and neutral hues. These rooms execute the vaguely anonymous corporate look of so many hotels worldwide. That said, a few little touches at the Astoria are especially welcoming. Monogrammed towels and basic toiletries, placed just so at the foot of each bed, are awfully nice.
Bathrooms are fine, with alternating tiles and corner shower units enclosed by circular doors. The Kazimierz location is great for tourists, and the restaurant on the premises—which offers room service until 11 p.m.—is surely another draw for many.
