Kadetus Hotel is yet another of Krakow's many friendly, slightly down-at-heel hostels. It’s located close to the action in a modern, bustling area of Krakow, west of Stare Miasto.

The hostel’s nine rooms are extremely basic, dorm-style affairs with bunk beds. They come in several configurations: doubles, one triple, one quad and one five-bed dorm. Bright yellow walls and coordinated Venetian blinds keep things cheery. Hardwood floors are nice as well. Sheets and towels are included in the nightly rate. All hostel rooms share bathroom facilities, which are smartly tiled.

The entire second floor of the property is taken up by Kadetus PLUS rooms, which sleep three, four and five people and come decked out with en suite bathrooms, satellite television and Internet connection. Additionally, every floor on the property has a common room with a 24-hour kitchen and shared computers with free Internet access (Wi-Fi is also free throughout).

The best features at Kadetus are not the rooms, but the uncommonly friendly staff and the fun communal atmosphere. It definitely has a backpackers-of-the-world-unite feel to it. The guest kitchen is cozy.

Breakfast is included. The cheapest of Cheapos should also take note: Bring along a joker card that the hostel does not yet have in their collection and you get five percent off your stay in the Joker-themed dorm.
