The 75-room Arriva Hotel gives guests more space at lower prices than many of the smaller London lodges. Sure, this means less on the decor side of the scale; but rooms are bright and clean, and the amenities are numerous.
Situated on a quiet street near Argyle Square and the British Library, the Arriva is the logical location for tourists who aren't opposed to sleeping a half mile away from the British Museum. As we've pointed out before, the King's Cross area is in the midst of a bustling revitalization, and the Arriva is located just near its epicenter.
Housed in a row house, circa 1875, the Arriva has only been in existence since 2002. It's clearly been well-kept since: recently painted and new facilities greet guests in the lobby, and the hotel has an elevator, a pleasant and rare surprise in older London hotels.
In addition to rooms, which range from singles to quads, the Arriva also rents out apartment spaces. All rooms have refrigerators, and some have kitchenettes. Furnishings give off the air of a lake-side bungalow with metal framed beds and balsa wood cabinets. But that's OK. In many of the London budget hotel rooms, it's a challenge finding space enough for a shoe, much less a refrigerator.
