The Comfort Inn King's Cross lives up to its name. Sure, the reception could have been friendlier, but we have to admit that this cozy 53-room hotel, which has geraniums lining the windows, feels more like a local inn with great perks than just another link in an international hotel chain.
Situated in the prettiest part of King's Cross, the Comfort Inn's old brick Georgian building is less than a 15-minute walk from the British Museum. Refurbished in 1999, the hotel's inside attempts a funky, modern style and boasts all the usual modern necessities, namely air-conditioning, wireless Internet access, and an elevator. The hallways and stairs are narrow, so ask for a lower floor if you have lots of luggage. Rooms, small by international chain hotel standards, are typically sized for London. But they have nice furnishings and a warm ambiance.
