Much like its neighbor, the
Hotel Europa, the 121-room Hotel Paris has an impressive art nouveau façade, fabulous views, and an incredibly convenient location directly on the Puerta del Sol.
The 120-year-old hotel is big and bustling, classy and classic. The lobby, usually filled with one tour group after another, is fabulously Grand-Hotel-esque. However, the rooms are predictably generic and rather dated, though at least they are functional and private baths are standard. (What's with the fluorescent lighting anyway?)
Like other two-star hotels on Sol, the Paris is neither soundproofed nor air-conditioned, meaning hot nights will also be noisy nights. Breakfast is served in a very '70s-style salon.
Reservations can be made by e-mailing the Paris' sister hotel—the more expensive, three-star Hotel Regina. Ask about group discounts.
