The two-star Hôtel Michelet Odéon offers modern rooms at reasonable (although not cheapo) rates in a swanky location. Situated on the semi-circular Place de l’Odéon, the hotel faces the Odéon Theater, which hosts world-class performances year-round. (It’s also one block from the Luxembourg Gardens.)

Each of the 42 rooms has a window facing a street, although only eight open directly onto the Place and the Theater (ask ahead). Rooms are simply equipped with a flat-screen TV, Wi-Fi (not free) and a telephone. The walls are painted fresh shades of white and green, and leopard-print carpets add a little flair. Bathrooms are relatively spacious, especially those outfitted with a tub.

The hotel is modern and stylish, with a young and efficient staff. Downstairs, the lobby’s windows provide awesome views of the theater.

Breakfast is served downstairs in the lounge, hung with black-and-white photographs of Paris, for a not-so-cheapo €14.
