The Hotel Alpi is about a 10-minute walk away from the Stazione Termini. Elegant décor in the lobby and lounge areas stays true to the "Liberty" style building. Suites are way out of Cheapo territory, but the Alpi's standard rooms can be a good deal during the low season.
Rooms don't have a lot of personality, but they benefit from wall-to-wall carpeting or parquet floors, large windows, and pleasant furnishings. Some have "fresco" paintings on the walls, while others offer Jacuzzi tubs or massage showers. In some of the smaller rooms, the shower is in a separate room from the toilet and sink. Single rooms are decently sized, which is a relief after seeing so many cubby holes elsewhere.
The plentiful breakfast buffet includes bacon! Take full advantage.
