The 48-room Hotel Alpi is about a 10-minute walk from the Stazione Termini. Elegant décor in the lobby and lounge areas stays true to the hotel’s "Liberty" style building.
Once a more budget-friendly pick, the Alpi was recently (as of summer 2010) renovated into a four-star stunner. Suites are way out of cheapo territory, but the Alpi's standard rooms can be a good deal during the low season.
Rooms are done up in either a classically elegant or a minimalist design scheme, with comforts such as Internet access, air-conditioning, a TV and minibar appearing throughout. “Superior” rooms boast a balcony or a whirlpool bath.
The Hotel Alpi has an attractive terrace, where guests can enjoy a free breakfast and Mediterranean-inspired cuisine.

About the Alpi neighborhood
The largely residential area north of Stazione Centrale Termini is both convenient and affordable. Trains heading to Fumincino airport and across Italy depart from this massive station, the front of which is also a major bus and metro stop. Although not the most picturesque neighborhood in central Rome, lots of hotel competition can often mean good rates. The area is always crowded and sometimes a little seedy.
