City Lodge, a hostel (21 beds in 7 rooms) in the center of Stockholm, is a money-saving gem. The proprietors are like the cool aunts you'd like to kick back with, and the friendly atmosphere they establish is a huge plus. Smack dab in the heart of Norrmalm and literally seconds from Central Station, its location is also undeniably convenient.
Like other hostels in Stockholm, City Lodge has a no-shoes-inside rule. This means that City Lodge is clean, even if the sweet smell of socks is omnipresent. Most rooms are subterranean and bare-bones, with sturdy, dorm-style bunkbeds. Double rooms with twin beds are also available.
In sum: charm isn't City Lodge's selling point. But charm ain't the point here, Cheapos. Another wonderful Lodge feature is the absence of that hyperactive hostel party vibe. Plenty of families join backpackers at the Lodge.

About the City Lodge neighborhood
Busy and hectic, Norrmalm is the beating heart of today's Stockholm. Characterized by Stockholm's lively Central Station and a slew of tourist draws, the 'hood also has retail shops, department stores, city parks and—to the south on an island—the Parliament. The majority of the crowds here are residents.
