This cozy little gem in the Santa Croce sestiere has been standing since the 1500s, and it's seen centuries of remodeling. Brothers Francesco and Alessandro took over in 1986 when white wood paneling was all the rage. They've worked wonders on the smallish rooms, adding enough wall-to-wall shelving to give every travel alarm clock, T-shirt, and guidebook a chance to shine!
Ceramic and marble floors are reminiscent of ages past, and furnishings are a mixed bag of antique and sturdy '80s and '90s pieces. Rooms are sans television or telephone, so be sure to bring a few books (again, the shelves should come in handy). Bathrooms are colorfully tiled in blue and green, and definitely modern.
In addition to the friendly staff and budget-friendly prices, 10 of the 14 rooms offer prime canal views. |
