The Pension Lindenhof, owned and operated by the Gebrael family, is a one-star property in a four-star location. Just a block off the Mariahilferstrasse, one of Vienna's main drags for shopping, the Lindenhof is surrounded shops and restaurants. The Innere Stadt, the Opera, and the Volkstheater are about ten to 15 minutes walking distance.
The one-star rating translates into austerity, though the friendly staff and clean accommodations make the Lindenhof a bargain nonetheless.
The 19 rooms are quite plain and worn—what you'd expect at this nightly rate—and amenities are pretty much limited to the bed and sheets. There's no television, no Internet, and no telephone. It's just a step above a hostel. Some rooms have shared bathrooms and showers. If you’re using the shared shower, it'll cost you an additional €2. En suite bathrooms aren't especially large.
We especially like the front hallway, lined with plants that spill out onto a balcony, which, like 14 of the 19 rooms on hand, overlook the Lindenhof's back garden.

About the Pension Lindenhof neighborhood
Neubau is Vienna's nightlife epicenter, a recently gentrified area that still retains a lot of grit despite its nightly metamorphosis into party central. Situated north of Mariahilf, the neighborhood boasts the massive Museumsquartier, home to the museums of modern art and architecture. Neubau is also one of the best places in the city to shop for antiques.
