The Grand City Hotel Berlin is a good choice for those looking to stay just off the Ku'damm. While not exactly “grand,” the three-star establishment does the trick, offering simple yet clean rooms at very affordable rates.

Rooms
The Grand City Ku’damm’s 81 guest rooms are basic yet comfortable, with big bright windows and typical beds and desks. They would benefit from a refresh, but they are clean and comfortable, and all are equipped with a TV and phone. Oversized, artsy photographs add some flair.
While the standard rooms are a decent size, those who like to stretch out (or plan on some in-room calisthenics) might consider opting for a “Comfort” room. These have all the same amenities but quite a bit more space, for only about €10 extra.
Bathrooms
The private bathrooms are adequate and also a bit dated. They offer a hair dryer, and tubs are available (request ahead).
Hotel
The Grand City Hotel Ku’damm has a sunny, modern restaurant that opens onto a pretty terrace, which used to be a pool. (Now, couldn't they have left that alone?) A fireplace makes the lobby quite cozy, and guests also have access to the sauna.
A breakfast buffet is available for an additional (rather exorbitant) fee. Wi-Fi is available in some rooms and costs extra.

About the Tryp by Wyndham Berlin am Ku’Damm neighborhood
Wilmersdorf is south of Charlottenburg. Though quite central, it's not exactly a booming hood. Pockets of a lively café culture can be found in Wilmersdorf, but for the most part this is a quiet area. Wilmersdorf is a great neighborhood for those who seek a central location and wish not to run the risk of stumbling across noisy nighttime revelers.
