Cheap hotels near Houses of Parliament in London, United Kingdom
Sitting pretty on the north side of the Thames, the British Parliament is the seat of legislative power in the United Kingdom, possessing authority over all other political bodies. The Houses of Parliament date back to the 13th century. It has since withstood fires, numerous renovations, air pollution and world wars, yet through it all it has served as the epicenter of British political life.
Perhaps the most recognizable feature of the Houses of Parliament is Big Ben, which was erected during Parliament’s 1858 renovation. Nearby you’ll find Westminster Abbey and the government buildings of Downing Street and Whitehall.
For more information on visiting the Houses of Parliament (including climbing Big Ben), see the official Web site of Parliament.
