The Hotel Anna is located on a quiet little artery of a street in the heart of Joseph Town. Anna is the place to be if a breakfast buffet and central location are higher priorities than lots of amenities.
We spent five nights in a double room in the Hotel Anna in April 2007. From the moment we walked through the door, the Anna staff was helpful. We arrived early on Easter Monday, when almost everything in Budapest was closed. Staff members gave us advice as to where to eat—at their restaurant, Fülemüle down the street—where to get money, where to buy a phone card, and so on.
Rooms are standard in just about every way. And although Anna's promotional materials display rooms outfitted in antique furniture, we only found an antique theme in the five apartments. Furniture in other rooms is modern fare, typical for budget hotels, with faux wood nightstands, desks, and head boards. All bathrooms have showers. Our room had a little entry foyer and coat rack, as well.
A single computer serves as the free Internet for all 31 rooms. During our visit, it was usually occupied at night. The breakfast buffet is served in a large room with sky lights. It includes meats, cheeses, bread, corn flakes, yogurt, watery juice, coffee, and tea.
A note for the sweaty: air conditioning runs €12 per night in some rooms.
