The seven rooms at Hotel Wanda somehow wandered out of 1970s Florida, and made their way into the far less tourist-traveled avenue of Via Ghibellina. Her majesty (the Church of Santa Croce) may loom nearby, but the surrounding area is day-to-day Florence, and as such, is off the tourist path.
Once inside, the place seems practically soundproof, a far cry from the hustle and bustle of shoppers downstairs. We give Hotel Wanda more than her two stars for interior design: ceramic floors, mirror-inlaid walls, a total hodge-podge of furniture (which include charmingly ridiculous wall-attached headboards) and painted, mirrored walls. We dare you to find a place sporting more wicker.
Bathrooms are small, with checkerboard tiles and good, sturdy appliances. While the décor is decidedly loud, the quiet hood should ensure that you'll enjoy a peaceful, quiet night's sleep at this friendly hotel.
