Caring Hotel

The Caring Hotel is a “cheap-as-chips” family-run B&B situated in a historic townhouse on a picturesque street, a short walk from Hyde Park. With clean, if simple, facilities, friendly service and a central location, the three-star property offers a solid value.

Rooms

The Caring Hotel’s 25 guest rooms are basic and frill-free. Furniture is of the utilitarian variety, and the print bedspreads are thin and sometimes faded. Colorful but generic framed prints adorn the walls.

To be sure, the Caring won't be winning any design awards, but the rooms are spotlessly, comfortable and quiet. Each room is equipped with coffee and tea facilities, a small flat-screen TV and phone.

Some rooms are quite spacious, while others tend toward minuscule. (The “cozy” rooms are probably best left for for single.) Street-facing rooms can pick up some noise, so light sleepers are advised to request a room in the back.

Bathrooms

Guest rooms at the Caring Hotel come in a variety of configurations. Some have a full private bathroom, some have a shower only and others share all facilities. All rooms are equipped with a small sink.

All bathrooms are surprisingly modern and sparklingly clean. Some private bathrooms have a bathtub (ask ahead). Shared bathrooms are only shared between two or three rooms.

Hotel

The pretty Victorian townhouse in which the Caring Hotel resides is a Grade-II-Listed building (UK speak for historically significant and protected). This translates to Old World charms like wrought-iron railings, but also means that the hotel lacks certain modern conveniences (namely, an elevator).

By all accounts the Caring is a simple establishment, but it’s a friendly one, and an excellent value. A continental buffet breakfast is included in the room rate and served in a no-frills dining area with cheery peach-colored walls and café tables and chairs.

Wi-Fi is free in the public areas. Luggage storage is available for an additional charge.

Location

The Caring Hotel benefits from an enviable Bayswater location, near a variety of restaurants, pubs and shops. It’s well situated for catching the Underground and an easy walk from Notting Hill or Hyde Park.
