Don't let the Central Park Hotel's dreary exterior fool you. It may look like a bad concrete '70s apartment complex from the outside, but inside rooms are airy and pleasant.
The Central Park is situated on Queensborough Terrace, a hotel strip on the north side of Kensington Gardens. Sure, it's not housed in a Victorian era building, but in return it offers all en suite, all non-smoking rooms at good prices. Plus, with a whopping 267 rooms, there's a good chance the Central Park will be offering cheapies when the rest of the area is full. Besides, you don't have to look at the building from your room. Instead, you get to look at Victorian architecture and it's everyone else who has to look at you!
The Central Park's cavernous lobby leads to a bar on one side and to the downstairs restaurant on the other. Rooms are clean and simple with modern furniture and clean, small, and modern bathrooms. All rooms have mini-refrigerators, hair dryers, and bathtubs to boot.
The bar is open until 1 a.m.—no annoyingly early London pub hours here.
A continental breakfast, served from 7 to 10 a.m. (until 11 a.m. on weekends), is included in the price. If you prefer a full English, it's available for £4 extra.
