Cheap hotels near Accademia Bridge in Venice, Italy

The Accademia Bridge (Pont’Accademia) crosses the southern end of Venice’s Grand Canal and links the picturesque Dorsoduro district with bustling San Marco.

The modern bridge that stands today was constructed in 1933, and replaced an iron bridge. It’s a structure marked by a high arch (sometimes compared to a cat’s back). The Accademia Gallery is located at the footbridge’s Dorsoduro end. Nearby you’ll also find the incredible Peggy Guggenheim Collection.

Fun fact: You might notice padlocks (“love locks”) attached to the metal rails of the bridge. Romantics attach them to symbolize undying love. Alas, heartless authorities have recently cracked down on the practice.
