Part of the tiny New York Inns hotel chain (along with fellow editor’s pick Union Square Inn), the two-star Murray Hill Inn is a relatively characterless property located on the edge of its namesake neighborhood, a generally quiet piece of Manhattan’s East Side.
The Inn’s 45 rooms are standard, neutral affairs, with furniture in light wood and a color scheme that veers toward the autumnal with its many yellows, browns and oranges. Enormous mirrors over beds have the effect of opening rooms and making them feel more spacious. Air conditioning, television and phones are available in all rooms. All but four rooms at Murray Hill Inn have private bathrooms, which are clean and sleek, with glass-walled showers and shiny tiles.
The hotel’s clientele consists largely of European tourists, some no doubt happy to have found a suitably quiet corner of Manhattan. Nightly rates are reasonable, though not rock-bottom by any means. Wi-Fi is available for a charge. Note that this is a walk-up building without an elevator.
Note: This hotel was visited by a EuroCheapo editor and is recommended based on cleanliness, location, price and overall quality. EuroCheapo did not charge this hotel to be listed.

About the Murray Hill Inn neighborhood
Midtown East begins at Fifth Avenue and works east toward the water, encompassing the residential Murray Hill neighborhood on its way. More business-oriented than Midtown West, Midtown East is home to many noteworthy sights, including Grand Central Terminal, the United Nations, the Chrysler Building and St. Patrick's Cathedral. This area is also great for shopping, with Saks Fifth Avenue, Takashimaya, Chanel, Burberry, Calvin Klein … Basically, if it isn't in Midtown East, then it's a few blocks north in the Upper East Side.
