Hotel Globus

The three-star Globus Hotel offers a mix of swanky surroundings and modern amenities that is surprisingly cosmopolitan for Florence.

The hotel’s 23 rooms have the sleek urban design of a New York hotel. We’re talking earth-toned fabrics, oversized headboards and black furniture with clean lines. Lest you forget where you are, Italian touches are sprinkled throughout, in the way of Tuscan photos and shuttered windows, some of which open onto views of San Lorenzo’s dome. All rooms are equipped with air conditioning, a flat-screen TV, minibar and free Wi-Fi.

The recently renovated bathrooms are stylish, shiny and contemporary—especially by Florentine standards. Both showers and tubs are available, and we even saw some special “rainfall” showerheads.

The second-floor reception upholds the hotel’s urban style with a cow-skin rug and leather couch. The Internet station is a low side table with a laptop and a stool.

The breakfast room has an angular coffee bar and padded benches along the walls. Breakfast is included.
