Situated just north of Central Station, the 76-room Alfa is a family-run three star hotel that has been offering rooms at reasonable rates for more than 35 years.
Rooms are newly renovated and boast classy décor and a rose color scheme. Economy rooms have shared bathroom facilities and are cheaper, while pricier rooms with private, mosaic bathrooms are also available.
Mirrors deck the Alfa's lobby and breakfast rooms, along with marble floors and fancy rugs. A pretty courtyard sets off the lobby from the hotel's bar (which sports some quirky illuminated beach photos).

About the Alfa City Center neighborhood
A mostly nondescript, modern neighborhood running several blocks north of the Hauptbahnhof (Munich's main train station), this area features a number of hotels. Interesting shops and a handful of bars and cafés as well as the odd building of architectural interest punctuate the 'hood.
