Cheap hotels near Opéra Garnier in Paris, France
The Palais Garnier, often referred to as the “Opéra Garnier” or simply the “Opéra,” is a magnificent beaux-arts opera house located in Paris’ 9th arrondissement.
Constructed under the rule of Napoleon III and designed by Charles Garnier, the opera house took 15 years to construct, opening in 1875. Dripping in gold, statuary and chandeliers, the building is a feast for the eyes.
Opera fans take note: Despite the building's (informal) name, the Paris Opera’s performances mostly take place across town at the Opéra Bastille, while the Garnier offers mostly ballet performances.
Tours are offered daily. For hours, admission charges, and a performance schedule, visit the Palais Garnier’s website.
